Hi Folks,
Cool news.
Around 6 months ago, I was hired to cut a commercial song for the United Iron Workers Union called "Men of Iron". It was originally written by my guitarist Chris Sonnenberg and he asked me to sing on the original demo. Later, I cut the final version at Bias studios with producer Jeff Bankert of the Carmen Group and many other great musicians. The song was put to video and just won an international Mercury Gold award for "Best Industry Motivational Song" and a Marcom award for the same. Thanks to all associated with it. I hope to have a link to the video in a few weeks for ya.
Also, a huge thanks to Greg Daly www.gregdaily.com who has taken all the pics on the bio page, and some great live shots of us at different venues. (including below).
And for those who get this in time, the private party I am doing Friday night at (#5 Taft St. Rockville, MD. 20850) has been opened to anyone who wants to see the band. Very nice of them, so take advantage of a huge dance floor, full bar, and great food. 8:30pm to 11:30pm.

I received sad news today that our friend and former bass player Jeff Sarli has died. For those of you who remember him with Bill Kirchen, Dave Elliott, and my band for a brief stint, he was the "real deal", and one of the kindest souls I had ever met. When he recorded with the Rolling Stones and later with Keith Richards the world got to hear what a talent he was, a wicked original, who didn't simply hold a musical foundation with his bass but yet spoke within it to all of us, just a few bars and you knew it was Jeff. I learned a lot from him, he had a unique way of telling you things without you ever thinking he was stepping on your toes as he imparted various musical wisdoms. I listened carefully, as I should have. And I remembered.
I speak for the band when I say we will miss his spirit and his musicality. He has left his tracks in the sound.
One cool cat...God's speed at the deep end Jeff. From us...

Hey all,
I hope all of you have been well. Sorry I haven't updated in a bit, I've been busy in the personal sector, outside of music, but things are gonna change here shortly.
The band and I will be introducing more new material, and I will be working with others in town on some new venues. Since losing Griff's on the Friday's, I have wanted to make sure that I select locations where we can still keep that "family and friends" type atmosphere to escape to after a long week. Truly, Griff's had become an experience as much as a musical show. It's important to keep that feeling. I think we definitely have worked that into shape at the Austin Grill in Silver Spring, Md. And soon there will be more.
If you haven't heard, the Half-Moon BBQ shut its doors as well. This was becoming one of my favorite places to play, and the people were just great. We're losing too many of the "little places" which sometimes are the heartbeat of music in the big towns. Sure it's great to play big shows, but the intimacy of the smaller clubs is often where music and art can come alive before you, and it's just more up close and personal. It changes the dynamic. Please folks, support the live music in this town, and the clubs that provide it.
See you all out there soon!

Hey Everyone,
As some of you may already know, my brother Doug passed away a few weeks ago. It was sudden, and he was young (45), so it has been a big blow, and one that will take some time to get a grasp on. He also was a terrific friend, my co-worker, family man with four great kids, and most of all, my big brother. Hold close to those around you, it's cliché, but truly each day is a precious one, I am lucky to have been able to spend the time with him that I did, and I will cherish the time I was given. Thanks for your cards, condolences and...well you know, for you all being so good to me. It helps in times like these.
During November I didn't pursue to much in the way of music, but I am here to say that December will find us back in the swing of things with some heavy duty gigs lined up. The Jammin Java is considered one of the top 3 venues for live music concerts in the DC area (chk tour dates). We will be there with our new friends Cold Hard Cash, who I can't say enough about. Rob Petry is the lead singer, and someone I just connected with immediately at the Johnny Cash Tribute show, put on by Ruthie and Greg at the Half Moon BBQ. It was a special night.
We also have two weekend dates in December at the Austin Grill (see tour dates), which is quickly becoming our new home. We have had some rowdy nights with record crowds, so says our buddy and the Grill's manager Don. Plus, we'll light it up for you with some Xmas holiday honkytonkin as well. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are truly Texas. So we'll see you all out there.
As we close out the year, I want thank some people for all that they do and did, and maybe will! And I hope if you see them you will thank them as well. They are the best.
MY KIDS - Andrew and Brooke, I love you. You are the reason for each day. I couldn't be prouder of you both.
Mom - Always there, in the crunch, and certainly responsible for everything I've accomplished that was good. Love ya.
Irina Astra - My magic, for all you do and have done. See her perform her poetry, and pick up her new CD.
Patty Dougherty - For being there in the difficult times, and being one of the best people I've ever met.
Joe Cribbin - The guy that carries me more than you know.
Paul Vendemmia - For his tireless efforts over these last few years, and dedication to his craft and to myself.
Gary Lee Gimble - A musician of this caliber is a tough commodity to get, i guess someone was lookin' out for me. Welcome aboard.
Greg Hardin - Thanks for jumpin on, you have given me a rock to lean on and you keep me laughin' at all times. It's never the same without you. What a talent.
Chris Sonnenberg - For the licks, the chops, and the speed. World class guitar, with attitude. Welcome aboard.
Griff - Made it all happen and welcomed me into his Place....for five years...every friday. Words don't cut it here. My friend.
Ira Gitlin - A pro, and one of my favorite guitarists, period...thanks for what you taught me along the way.
Ruthie Logsdon - Tireless in her efforts to help other musicians in this town get recognition, thanks for what you have done for me, it means a ton.
Finally, to all the friends and fans. You make this great musical ride worth it, and you are truly family. To each of you, have a great holiday season and a great New Year.

Hey all,
First I want to take a moment to thank Branded Men band members Ira Gitlin and Paul Vendemmia for their hard work and dedication to me over the last few years. They will be moving on to other things, however, still expect to see them from time to time in the future. These guys are close to me and have meant a lot, if you see them, please tell them you appreciated their music in the band...it's well deserved and they're wonderful people.
Paul has decided to spend more time in pursuit of his number one love, no not his wife, but repairing and crafting steel guitars for you good steelers all over this here nation. I can attest to Paul's "fixer-upper-ness" due to the fact he saved my behind many a time with a quick electrical or mechanical repair. Paul always has an open chair on my stage and we'll coax him up for some tunes in the future.
Ira will continue to be this town's utility man I'm sure....that coupled with his teaching pursuits and bluegrass festivals keep him well busy. Catch him around if ya can. He remains one of my favorite guitarists, and I look forward to working more with him in the future.
I wish to welcome my newest members Chris Sonnenberg on lead guitar and Gary Lee Gimble on pedal steel guitar. I'll tell ya folks it don't get much better than this. I'll have their bios and info in the band section of the web site very soon...until then, come out and see them. No really...I'm serious. Very serious.
I'm still serious.
OK. Come out to the Austin Grill in Silver Spring (chk the tour dates page for info) Friday, Oct. 7...we take the stage at 9:30...the food, drinks, and atmosphere are Texas ,Texas, Texas...plus I've got special guests in town...sooooo. Don't miss it. See ya there.

Griff has called it quits, and Griff's Place will no longer be our Friday night home.. I am not sure what the future of the building holds, but I will meet with the new owners (if it remains a bar/restaurant) as soon as practical. This is tough news for me, the band, our friends, and the community which supported us these last 5 years.
I want to thank Griff for all he has done for me. It is a rare find to have a club owner who cares about the music and the musicians as much as Griff did. We did a little over 250 shows there over the last five years. Add to that, many priceless memories, great music, the best guests in town (and in some cases the world), plus so many great people, and so many new friends.
Thanks again everyone...you're the best.
...Check the tour dates page often, many shows comin'.

Hi Folks,
Time to update things as best I can.
There have been many rumors involving Griff's Place going out of business. I will give you what I know at this time. Facts not rumors.
Griff has taken large business losses since the Montgomery County smoking ban went into effect last year. He has kept it all going the best that he could, even having to dip into his own personal resources to try keeping things afloat. Thankfully, our Friday nights have continued to bring out a consistent number of people to keep him going over the last 6 months or so. I thank all of you for that and for your support. However, with the store side not doing well and not much business during the weekdays, it is a week to week situation.
For now, check the tour dates page to see which Fridays appear. Thanks for supporting what I do, and thanks for supporting our home..Griff's Place.

Happy Holidays Everybody!!
Come join us at Griff's tonight for a mighty fine Honky Tonkin' Xmas show, featuring all kinds of holidayish, beer soaked charm. Xmas songs are there for the taking, and for the giving as always. Usual 9pm start, I'll be giving away the last of this particular batch of Ty Braddock T-shirts, I think it's about 4 or so left at this point...my gift to some of you! Hey, it's better than coal...aint it?
Also, I'll be off for Xmas Eve this year but returning the following week for our New Years Tonkin' Eve show. I'm lining up the special guests as we speak, and will have more on that shortly in a future e-mail. I know that Griff is providing various New Year's Eve type food, drink, and favors. Don't know the kind of favors yet, but knowing Griff...expect quite a favor.
Good news on the CD..I'll tell y'all at the gig....
...if we make it thru December

Hey everybody, thanks for the huge turn out at Griff's Place for my show with steel guitar legend Buddy Charleton. We had a great time and the music was flowing. Always a thrill to play with the legends. Also a big thank you to Bob Spates on fiddle, Don Moore on bass, Ruthie and her Wranglers (Greg Hardin and Phil Mathieu) for sitting in and making a memorable night of great country music even better. Also a huge thank you to Irina, country dancer extraordinaire, for running the monster recording machine for the whole night. Also, I keep meeting many new people at every show these days and I couldn't be happier about it, thanks for spending time with us and supporting live music
I'm thrilled to announce that we'll have Greg Hardin, one of my favorite bass players and one of my favorite people, playing with us for awhile. Greg is still a Wrangler, but has some extra honkytonk time on his hands and we are the beneficiaries. Greg played bass on my CD, and has done several shows with me in the past, so come on out and see him in May.

Maryland’s oldest and most historic honky-tonk, Griff’s Place, hosts another incredibly special night of REAL country music on Saturday, April 24th at 9pm.
"Local country singer/songwriter Ty Braddock welcomes his very special guest back once again, steel guitar legend Buddy Charleton. If you caught last year’s show then you know that the place was packed, and on fire with Buddy revisiting many of the great classic hits that he has played on throughout the years with Ernest Tubb and others. Don’t miss this great country show, showcasing a true pioneer of his instrument. Griff has made it a “no cover charge” evening, and hopes to see all the great people who came from around the country the last show to witness this legend that rarely plays live these days."
"Ty Braddock was nominated for best country vocalist for 2002 and 2003 by WAMA, and makes no apologies for sticking close to the roots of country music. You will find him at Griff’s every Friday night with his “Branded Men band” featuring the best in country music that this area has to offer. His past “Special Guest Saturday” shows have held host to Redd Volkaert, Dale Watson, Chick Hall Jr, Tommy Hannum, Ricky Davis, Gary Lee Gimble, Bob Spates, Carl Nelson, and of course Buddy Charleton to name a few. See ya out there folks! "

Hey Everybody,
I'd like to pass on some great news and a few announcements to ya.
This Friday night at Griff's Place, now our honkiest tonkiest "smoke free" beer joint in town, I'll be joined by the famous Jeff Sarli on bass and guitar wizard Dave Chappell. I have known Jeff for years, but until now, I was unable to connect with him for a gig. It turns out that Jeff may very well be able to join the band on a permanent basis. He recently recorded with the Rolling Stones on their "Bridges to Babylon" CD, and worked on the road with Levon Helm of "The Band" fame. Despite the major rock and roll credentials he is writing a lot of country songs as of late and was looking to get back into a honky tonk outfit. Come on out and support this show and meet Jeff. He's looking forward to meeting all of you. It will be a big night.
On Friday the 24th of October we will take a rare night away from Griff's to play the JV Restaurant in Falls Church, Va. Over the next few months the venues will increase and I hope to have 2 to 3 shows a week planned. I'm focusing on broadening the geographical scope, to more of Md., DC and Va. I really hope I can see a lot of you at the JV, and get a big turnout. This will allow me to come back often, and Lorraine is a terrific owner who runs a great establishment for food, beer, tradition, and music. It is a Virginia institutuion for sure. Also, my thanks to Ron Moretti, it looks as if he has the Ty Braddock T-shirts almost ready to go..and they should be available for the JV gig. We'll have them on the website too for ya to buy very soon.
I'll also update you in a few days about SPECIAL GUEST Saturday this month. I have two great folks lined up and we're trying to figure out schedules....
See ya out there!

Unfortunately, due to an issue with my scheduled Special Guest for this Saturday, I will not be performing a show that evening. I think we had a Special Guest Tuesday that made up for it though. Thanks to all who came out to support that great show with our friend Dale Watson from Austin, TX. A great time was had by all.
Great news also came this week from a distribution site on the west coast who is looking to push the forever upcoming CD "Mr. Honkytonk". More news to come on that.....
ANNOUNCEMENT: After nearly 2 years as my permanent bass player, Fido Mann will be leaving the band to pursue other local projects. I wish him the best with everything, he is a great talent. I have procured one of my favorite bassists around, Ruthie and the Wranglers' Greg Hardin, to fill in for awhile until the permanent spot is filled. Greg's debut as a Branded Man Temp begins tonight at Griff's...see ya there!

This picture of Dale Watson and I was taken at Ginny's Little Longhorn in Austin, TX. last year. I had just finished sitting in and doing a few songs with Dale on his famous "Chicken Shit Sunday" show. I know, I know, I'll have to explain how that show works to everyone here on the east coast. When Dale and I talked a few nights ago after his huge show at Iota in Virginia, he stated he had some open dates and I was able to get a booking for him here at Griff's Place (my Ginny's) with my band opening the show. I can't tell ya what a thrill it is for me to have the best traditional country singer/songwriter in our home at Griff's.
I met Dale in 1995 around the time his first CD came out, over the years he has taught me many valuable things about this business and he has risen to national prominence during that time. I have been proud to share the stage with him numerous times in Austin and here at home, and do my best to promote his great music on most every show I do. Folks, we have lost so many legends in country music recently, the biggest blow yet, came to our beloved Johnny Cash a few days ago. Dale Watson honors these legends each night on his shows while simultaneously delivering his own songs which all stand as classics on their own. He proudly carries a torch which none of these slicked up, no talent, Nashville hat acts would dare to go near...there is nobody more real in this business then the man you will see in our home Tuesday night. Support this show folks, the future of country music is in your back yard, you need to tell everyone you saw it....

Hey Folks,
First I want to remind everyone about Special Guest Saturday this month on the 28th at Griff's Place. Steel Guitar wizard Gary Lee Gimble will be joining myself and the band for what is sure to be a memorable night of severe honky tonkin'. Gary is one of the fastest steel pickers I have shared the stage with and he'll be teamed up with my steel guitarist Paul Vendemmia for some great twin pieces and instrumentals. Much like last months Buddy Charleton show, if your a fan of the steel guitar sound this is a don't miss night. For those wishing to have a seat I still recommend getting there early as space fills quickly.
Update on CD release ---- "Mr. Honkytonk" is finished, and I hope for a release date very soon. There had been some different snags along the way (unrelated to the project) that had put me behind schedule for the projected release date...so for those asking...it's a comin'.
I want to thank Greg Yost from "Music Monthly" magazine for coming out to do a sit down type interview a few weeks ago. I was honored to find out Greg is doing a feature article on me entitled "Real Country in the Capitol" in an upcoming issue.
Also, I want to thank all of ya for the e-mails that have been coming in recently. I'm fortunate to have you great folks coming out to my shows on a regular basis and love that your enjoying yourselves each time. Thanks for keeping the tradition of the music, that we love so much, alive and well.

Big, Big, Big month here in 'ol May. First and foremost my "It's a Saturday Twang..." show on the 31st at Griff's Place brings in one of the world's legendary steel guitar players in the form of Buddy Charleton. Buddy was responsible for being a pioneer and innovator of the instrument that is the cornerstone of traditional country music. It's always a very special night to share the stage with people of Buddy's caliber. He recorded some of the most famous steel guitar intros and licks on the first recordings for Merle Haggard and Buck Owens and later spent over a decade with the great Ernest Tubb. He is also a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. Buddy now teaches full time and performs on very few live shows, so I am humbled that he wanted to do it and was familiar with my work. If ya can only make one Saturday gig this year make it this one...you can tell the grandkids you saw Buddy Charleton. Get there early for a seat, shows have been packed lately.
!!!Gig added at the last second!!! I'll be at the Wilkins Inn in Monrovia, Md. this Saturday from 9pm-1am with the Branded Men Band. It's located at the intersection of Rt75 and Rt80 north of Damascus. Filling in on guitar that night is my friend Steve "The Axe" Blair. Come support this venue on this our maiden voyage. Ahoy.
Stay dry,
-Ty

A quick update. First I want to thank all of you for jam packing Griff's Place these last bunch of weeks. You folks are the best. Griff and Peggy are like family to me and I love to see his business doing as well as it has been. I learned a long time ago that it takes a team of good people to make great things happen and I am surrounded by such a team for sure....many of you know that's rare in this business.
This Sat. (Apr. 26) my "Ty Braddock Special Guest Saturday Show" brings one of the biggest heavies on the fiddle scene today to Griff's Place. Bob Spates has been a right hand man for Vince Gill and Ray Price for years and they don't get much better than him. I appreciate him coming out on the short notice I gave him, so you all make sure your there to see one of the greats in action. The Saturday shows have been notorious for having plenty of the area/out of area greats show up and pick/sing a few tunes with us. Ya never know who ya might see. Check the tour dates page for times for all shows and don't forget the Friday show as well
A big thanks to Lorraine at JV's for making me and the band feel so welcome a few weeks back, felt like we were at home, no doubt, and the crowd was great. I've booked several more dates there in June and over the summer on Saturdays, hope to see everyone there.
Talk to ya next month!

Hey all,
Make sure that your all out in mass for the Friday and Saturday shows this week at Griff's Place. Legends Chick Hall Jr. (guitar) and Joe Stanley (King of the Honkytonk Saxophone) will be my special guests on Saturday night. Also, joining me on bass guitar will be Greg Hardin from Ruthie and the Wranglers. My understanding is that we may have some other surprise guests dropping in that night as this "Special Guest" night has created quite a huge buzz already. So come see the legends, recording equipment is allowed for this show. As always NO Cover, and the true country ambiance of Maryland's greatest historic honky tonk.
On Friday, the second set of the evening will be performed by my friend Dan Chute and his band "The Twangmasters". Great guitar work, singing, and a terrific variety of tunes. These guys are one of my favorite bands in the area and are a true hidden gem on the circuit. They'll be on around 10:15pm. The third set will be a free for all with mixtures of the Branded Men Band and the Twangmasters blending together like black on a bowling ball.
Check out my buddy Bill Dee's new CD called "Heart Don't Fail Me Now". It features my favorite two musicians on the globe in Redd Volkaert on guitar and Ricky Davis on Steel. Billy and I are going to start writing together in the near future as he is one of my favorites around. The link to his site is in my LINKS section. Please continue to support the folks that I feel are keeping traditional country music alive. I wouldn't steer ya wrong...go buy this CD.
See ya out there

Some quick updates and a BIG SHOW announcement...
Unfortunately, due to a family health emergency and the recent blizzard type weather, it looks as though the release of the new CD will be pushed back some weeks due to the studio time that was lost. The mixing and finalizing is ongoing and I don't want to rush the final product in any way.
I want to welcome guitarist Ira Gitlin to the Branded Men Band. Ira will be playing with us through the end of this month and several shows in the future. Ira is one of the best pickers in this area and a real pro in every way...not to mention a hellava great guy.
"Ty Braddock's Special Guest Saturday Show"... kicks off this Saturday night (2/22) at Griff's Place (9pm) with legendary guitarist Chick Hall Jr. sitting in with the band. Chick played on my CD and is one of my favorite guitar players on this here planet so don't miss this very special evening with one of the true greats at his craft. Check the web site link (Tour Dates) for all upcoming show dates, times and locations.

I got official word this weekend from the WAMA (Washington Area Music Association) that I was included on the ballot as a nominee for Country Vocalist of the year. It's an honor to be included alongside some of my friends and a few DC legends as well. Thanks again to the WAMA members for including me.
Also a quick thanks to my friends from Honky Tonk Confidential who came out last Friday night to Griff's and sat in with us for a few songs. Mike, Diana, and Bobby you folks are the real deal...thanks for doin' what you do. Also a big thanks to Dan Chute from the Twangmasters for pickin' that night as well
Keep an eye on the tour dates page. The last Saturday night of each month starting in February (Feb. 22) will be "SPECIAL GUEST SATURDAY". First out of the box is my old buddy and guitar legend Chick Hall, who takes a night off from his band Heroes and Friends to join us as we kick off this new All-Star night once a month. We'll still be doing our regular Friday nights of course. Other folks joining us in the future will be Joe Stanley (King of the Honky Tonk Sax), Ricky Davis (Steel guitarist for Dale Watson and the Derailers), and the legendary Buddy Charleton (Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, Ernest Tubb's steel man). Look for these updates soon.
